Childcare and preschool

Teachers cannot answer the phone while they are with the children, and parents call at drop-off, at lunch and after work, often while comparing several centres. The assistant answers at once, notes school tour requests with the child's age group, and passes anything about a child's safety or wellbeing straight to a person.

What it handles

  • School tour requests, noted with the child's age group and a weekday or Saturday preference
  • Opening hours, location, meals, languages and the starting fees approved by the centre
  • Enrolment questions: documents to bring, registration fee, deposit and how subsidies generally work
  • Vacancy and waiting-list requests, passed to the team without ever promising a place

When it hands over to a person

  • A parent reports a child hurt or unwell at the centre (trouble breathing: call 995 first)
  • Subsidy amounts, refunds, fee disputes or a complaint about a teacher or a child's care
  • A parent asks for the principal, or raises a medical, special-needs or safety concern

What it never does

  • Promises a place, a vacancy, a subsidy amount or a start date
  • Gives health, feeding or child-development advice
  • Asks for NRIC numbers, a child's birth date or card details by voice

Questions it answers

From your own FAQ, nothing made up

What are your opening hours?

We're open Monday to Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, and Saturday, 7 am to 1 pm. We're closed on Sundays and public holidays, and we stay open during the school holidays.

How much are the monthly fees?

Full-day fees start from S$1,450 a month for playgroup and nursery, including GST and before subsidies. Infant care and kindergarten differ, and the team confirms the fee for your child's level. How old is your child?

Can I book a school tour?

Of course. I can note a tour request for the team, and a tour takes about 30 minutes. Do you prefer a weekday or Saturday morning?

What age groups do you take?

Infant care takes babies from 2 to 18 months, and playgroup is from 18 months. Nursery is for ages 2 to 4, and K1 and K2 are for ages 4 to 6. The team places your child by age and year of birth.

Do you have any vacancies?

Vacancies and start dates change often and depend on the age group, so I can't promise a place or a date. A team member can check for your child's age group. Shall I note a school tour request as well?

How long is the waiting list?

Waiting times depend on the age group, so I can't give a number. A team member can add your child to the waiting list and tell you what to expect. Joining the list doesn't guarantee a place.

How much is infant care?

Infant care starts from S$1,850 a month, including GST and before subsidies. Parents bring the baby's milk, and the team explains anything else needed. Shall I note a school tour request?

How much is kindergarten, K1 or K2?

K1 and K2 start from S$1,350 a month, including GST and before subsidies. Children follow the kindergarten programme and can stay for care until 7 pm. Shall I note a school tour request?

Are there government subsidies?

Eligible children can get government subsidies that lower the monthly fee. Eligibility depends on things like citizenship and family circumstances. The team explains what applies and helps with the application.

Is there a registration fee or a deposit?

Yes. There's a one-time registration fee of S$150, which is not refundable, and a deposit of one month's fee, returned when your child leaves. The team tells you when both are due.

Is that the final price, with no hidden charges?

The monthly fee covers meals and snacks, and all fees include GST. The extras are the registration fee, the deposit, a one-time start-up pack with uniforms, a bag and books from S$180, and late pick-up fees. The team gives you the full fee list in writing, so there are no surprises.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept PayNow, GIRO, NETS and major credit cards, and fees are paid monthly in advance. Government subsidies and the Child Development Account depend on eligibility, so the team can confirm what applies.

Where are you located?

We're in Punggol, a short walk from Punggol MRT station, with a covered walkway for rainy days. There's a drop-off bay at the gate and a few visitor parking lots.

Are you open on weekends and public holidays?

We're open on Saturdays, 7 am to 1 pm, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. We stay open during the school holidays.

Do you provide meals?

Yes, breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are included from playgroup. Our menu has no pork, but the kitchen is not halal-certified. For infants, parents bring milk, and we agree on solids with you.

My child has a food allergy

Thank you for letting me know. Please tell the team at enrolment, and the teachers note it for every meal. I can't promise any dish is free of an allergen, so a team member can go through the menu with you.

Can my child come if they have a fever?

Children with a fever or a contagious illness need to stay home until they are well. We may ask for a doctor's memo before they return. If a child is unwell during the day, we call you to collect them.

What happens if my child gets hurt at the centre?

Teachers trained in first aid look after your child straight away, and we call you at once. If your child needs a doctor or a hospital, we take them there and keep you informed. In an emergency we call 995.

Are you licensed, and are your teachers qualified?

Yes. We're licensed by ECDA as a childcare centre, and our teachers hold early childhood qualifications recognised by ECDA. The principal can answer more questions at a school tour.

How many children are in each class?

Classes are kept small and follow ECDA's staff-to-child ratios, with the most caregivers for each child in infant care. A team member can tell you the class size for your child's level.

Is your programme bilingual in English and Mandarin?

Yes, children learn in English with Mandarin lessons and songs every day, and children new to Mandarin are welcome. For Malay or Tamil, a team member can tell you what we can offer.

What does a typical day look like?

Children arrive from 7 am and have breakfast, circle time, English and Mandarin lessons and outdoor play. After lunch and a nap, there is a snack and free play before pick-up. Parents see updates on a private parent app.

Will my child be ready for Primary 1?

Our K2 programme builds language, number and social skills for Primary 1, but we can't promise how any child will do. A team member can show you the curriculum at a school tour.

Who is allowed to pick up my child?

Only the people on your pick-up list. Your helper or grandparents can be added, and staff check their ID the first time. If we don't know the person, we call you before letting your child go.

I'm nervous about leaving my child

That's very common, and you're not alone. We suggest a gentle settling-in with shorter days at first, and the teachers keep you updated. A school tour is a good way to meet them first, and your child is welcome to come along.

Do you take children with special needs?

Every family is welcome to talk to us. The support we can give depends on your child's needs and what the centre can provide. A team member will talk it through with you first.

Do you share photos of my child online?

Only with your written consent, and you can say no or change your mind at any time. Photos on our private parent app are seen only by the parents of that class.

What should I bring to enrol my child?

Please bring your child's birth certificate or passport, the immunisation record, and each parent's NRIC or passport. You only bring these to the centre, and we never ask for them over the phone.

What if I'm late picking up my child?

Please call us if you're running late. After closing time, a late pick-up fee of S$15 applies for every 15 minutes, because a teacher stays on with your child.

Can I cancel or change my child's enrolment?

Yes. Please give one month's written notice to withdraw, and your deposit is returned after that, once all fees are settled. To change days or level, a team member can check what is possible.

Do you give a refund or a guarantee?

The registration fee is not refundable. The deposit is returned when your child leaves, and the monthly fee stays the same when your child is away. We can't guarantee a place, but a team member can explain more.

Can you give me a discount?

I'm sorry, I don't have any discounts to offer. A team member can tell you if there are any current offers.

Why is it so expensive?

Fees cover qualified teachers, small classes, meals and a safe, clean centre. A team member can explain what is included, and what help with the monthly cost may be available.

Can you match another centre's price?

I can only speak for LittleSprouts Childcare, and I can't change our fees. A team member can look at what you need and explain what is included.

I'm unhappy with how my child is being cared for

I'm so sorry to hear that. Please tell us what happened, and the principal will look into it with you. I can ask a team member to call you back.

Can I speak to the principal?

Of course. I can ask the principal or a team member to call you back. May I take your name and mobile number?

Do you speak Mandarin?

Yes, our teachers and front-desk team speak English and Mandarin. On this demonstration line I can only help in English.

Do you record my calls?

This call may be recorded, as I said at the start. We only use recordings and the details you give to follow up your request, and you can ask us to delete them.

Can I get a receipt or an invoice?

Yes, you get a receipt for every payment and a monthly fee statement. The team can issue an invoice with GST if your employer needs one.
